Ag Power of Owatonna demos new 4-track tractor

Lead Summary

Envision a green machine that has four tracks and will give farmers the versatility they need in a field tractor on tracks.
“This is a big deal and one of the biggest promotions of John Deere in recent history,” said Owatonna Ag Power regional sales manager Kevin Hansen. “It’s a tractor that our customers have been asking for.”
Hansen and several of his sales associates invited farmers from surrounding counties to witness a demonstration of the 9RX Series tractor last Wednesday and Thursday on Ahrens Farms property just east of Owatonna in Steele County.
Hansen said the new 9RX tractor completes the family of high-horsepower machines on the market. He said John Deere has the right machine for all farming needs. John Deere now has a wheel tractor, a two-track tractor and a four-track tractor, he commented.
The 9RX Series Tractors are a perfect combination of power, performance and intelligence all wrapped up in a four-track unit, Hansen points out. With models from 470 to 620 engine horsepower, proven Final Tier 4 engines, integrated technology and increased hydraulic flow, the 9RX Series “is all in to go all out,” Hansen added.
Built to pull large implements through a variety of field conditions, the 9RX covers more acres in less time, improving yield potential and profitability.
The 9RX is designed with a strong drive train and under carriage. Its upswept axle component is said to be the largest cast part poured in the nation, John Deere engineers report. The 9RX uses a positive drive system to effectively transfer the engine power for consistent and stable performance in both the field and on the road.
A HydraCushion™ suspension system is an industry-exclusive feature that helps mitigate power hop and road lope improving productivity and efficiency with less operator fatigue, Hansen related.
The 9RX tractor is so new in production that it likely will not be available in multiple numbers until 2016.
Wanamingo farmer Craig Henslin and son Wayne were two highly impressed John Deere customers who were able to drive the 9RX machine, pulling a Model 2730 John Deere tiller featuring a 22-foot, 11-shank ripper. “It’s a complete fall tillage tool,” Hansen pointed out.
By using the Model 2730 tillage tool, farmers can go over their freshly harvested acreage, going about 12 inches deep and preparing the land for the next spring’s crops.
Exiting the huge cab on the 9RX tractor, Craig commented: “It’s pretty nice; rides and handles smoothly and is easy to maneuver.” The Henslins farm over 2,000 acres.

The cab on the machine is very spacious and measures 12 feet from top to bottom. Visibility is industry leading with a 40-degree right-hand seat swivel allowing the operator to see even more.
The cab is fully equipped with the latest in technological farming equipment including remote display access which allows a farmer to check on the location of all of his farming units by using his phone or computer. John Deere’s Ag Management Solutions provides this ethnology advantage.
John Deere’s website (www.deere.com) says the newly redesigned CommandARM™ is as convenient as it is intuitive. The 4600 CommandCenter Display lets the operator easily see and control major machine functions including AutoTrac™.
