Believe in the voice of God

Lead Summary

Do you raise your eyebrows or roll your eyes or scratch your head when you hear someone say, “God told me…”?
For many of us it is not always easy to know what God wants us to do.  We all have different levels of faith and understanding.
In Hebrews 1 it says in the past God spoke to His people through prophets and then He spoke to us through His Son Jesus.
Often we know what God wants us to do because we know God through His word, our Bible.
In 1st Samuel 14:6 Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, ‘Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act on our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.’
That day Jonathan led an amazing successful battle.  But do you notice the word he used?  He said, “perhaps”.  Other translations use the word, “maybe”.
Often times in life we are not certain but we give it our best shot and we acknowledge God is in charge and we might say like Jonathan, “Perhaps the Lord will act on our behalf”.
We could think about the little train engine going up the hill saying, “I think I can I think I can I think I can”, and then he did.
