BP Ed Foundation auctions raise $78K

The donations kept on coming in and the bidders were there to help raise $78,000 for the 2022 Blooming Prairie Education Foundation auctions last Saturday.
The silent auction was held inside the Pizza Cellar and the live auction took place in the large tent outside the Cue Company.
Temperatures dipped to the low 40s by live auction time but that did not deter bidders.
Karen Fouarge, chair of the auctions for a ninth time, said the auction receipts continue to amaze her every year.
This year's silent and live auctions represented the 19th annual event.
The Ed Foundation is a non-profit organization, which has been created by a group of fiscally conservative community members. More educational opportunities are provided students in the Blooming Prairie school District because of the Ed Foundation.
This year's total is not a record but it is up there in totals. "We once again proved that we are a great community," said Fouarge.
She was even one of the successful bidders. She won the co-principal for a day at the Blooming Prairie Elementary School. She says she won it for her grandson, Cash Kruckeberg, who will soon be 9 years old.
The silent auction ran from 2-4 p.m. The live auction followed at 5 p.m. and went until 11 p.m. Here's the auction item totals: silent, 139 and live, 148.
Before the live auction started, a drawing was held to give the winner the right to have the "pick of the show."
Lana Hefling, secretary at the Blooming Prairie Elementary School, won the right to pick from all items on stage. She picked the 5-day Florida vacation at Fort Myers, donated by Rod and Tess Koster. One hundred tickets were sold.
A cash raffle was also held with $1,000, $500 and $250 prizes awarded.
Auctioneers for the night were: Mark Ditlevson, John Kraling and Justin Krell.
Lots of food items were auctioned off during the live part of the day. They included: caramel rolls, cinnamon rolls, ribeye steak dinners, homemade salsa and chips, snack mix, Elenaor Worke's legendary sauerkraut, maple syrup, fresh baked buns, Porky the Pig, two large pizzas, Special K bars, Heidi's famous cheesecake, favorite things brunch, three cookie jars filled with chocolate chip cookies, pickled eggs, raspberry cake, 6 dozen Christmas cookies, krumkake, lefse, Hope butter, Angus beef bundle, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, burger basket, etc.

Fouarge said the auction committee will now take a short break before gearing up for the 2023 auction.
