BP remains perfect at 6-0

The Awesome Blossom football team put another victory in its pocket Friday, Oct. 4, with a lopsided 61-6 win over an outmanned Kenyon-Wanamingo contingent.
The Blossoms, who moved up to No. 2 in the state rankings this week, won their sixth straight game by a wide margin, similar to the other wins with the Goodhue victory the one exception.
Like so many of the other wins, this game was over by halftime, after BP took a 26-0 lead after one quarter and went into the break with 40 points on the board.
BP opened the scoring on a Kaden Thomas pass to Karson Vigeland, and Matthew Pryor ran the ball 3 of 4 downs on the next drive, the last time for 6 yards and a touchdown.
The next score came when Gabe Hagen recovered a Knight fumble and rambled into the end zone for the touchdown. Carson Brenneke sailed his first two conversion tries wide but connected this time easily. The last touchdown of the quarter came on a Thomas to Hagen toss into the corner of the end zone. The Blossoms counted 14 points in the second quarter for a 40-0 margin at the half.
The second half found the winners creating a methodical game plan and scoring two more touchdowns along the way. Thomas passed to Mitch Fiebiger for one of the scores; Brenneke made both conversion kicks, and KW did count a touchdown to round out the evening.
Quarterback Thomas had another sparkling effort going 12 for 14 passing and piling up 276 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hagen snared 5 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Fiebiger also caught a touchdown on 3 catches for 73 yards.
Pryor carried the ball 15 times and amassed 127 yards. The BP defense limited Kenyon-Wanamingo to 138 yards for the entire game. Dylan Nirk led the defensive corps with 10 tackles.
After the win last week, the Blossoms next travel to Faribault for a district contest against Bethlehem Academy (2-4). Blooming Prairie will close out its regular season against Medford on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
