Eagle Scout taking flight

Lead Summary

DJ Stender is embarking on his Eagle Scout project.
He has noticed a place of improvement at Blooming Prairie High School. For his Eagle Scout project, he has proposed the idea of implementing a cement patio on the south side of the main entrance.
“It would help benefit the school by making the area look nicer and have a place to sit.” Stender explains, “The current location is just dead grass, because that is where they push the snow every winter.”
He has been in talks with administration at the school, mainly superintendent Olson, who has been cooperative and respectful of his ambitions. The school has a noticeable lack of seating outside, Stender hopes to bring this problem to light in discussions with administration.
Stender is a sophomore at BPHS. He has been in the Boy Scouts since 1st grade. “In those eight years, I have found that living by the scout law has helped me in life,” he reflected.
He’s had high hopes of becoming an Eagle Scout from one day, since being a boy scout has been the “greatest adventure” of his life.
The great leadership skills that he has attained he also credits to being a Scout. “It has shown me the importance of leadership skills and planning this endeavor.”
For those of you who want to stand behind this idea and help propel it forward, Stender is currently fundraising and taking donations. If anyone would like to submit donations, they can be sent to: 52482 320th St., Blooming Prairie, MN, 55917. All checks to be made out to “troop 50”.
