Ginskey one step closer to Triple ‘A”

Owatonna senior Connor Ginskey advanced last week as the Region 1AA male nominee for the Triple “A” Award.
Ginskey will now be in the running for the award at the state level and will be one of eight male finalists to be invited to a March banquet by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
“It feels great. I’m obviously really honored. I never really gave it all that much thought until the application came around this year, and then I’m just involved in a good amount of stuff and I was able to be selected. It was really cool,” said Ginskey.
Ginskey’s nomination and selection as a finalist should come as no surprise considering his academic and athletic accomplishments at Owatonna High School.
The senior has been a part of all three separate qualifications for the Triple “A” Award as he has participated in the arts and athletics, as well as excelling in academics.
A National Merit Semi-Finalist, Ginskey has also participated in the band as a trumpet player for four years, as well as sang in the solo ensemble group and the choir.
In athletics, Ginskey has been involved with the basketball, cross-country and track and field teams.
His success as an athlete has been equally as impressive as his ventures in the classroom and in music, as Ginskey participated as one of two individuals in the state cross country meet in the fall and is currently a member of the Huskies’ basketball team which is first overall in the Big Nine Conference.
Ginskey will compete for the coveted Triple “A” Award’s four-year $1,000 scholarship at the MSHSL banquet scheduled for March.
