Huskies batter Faribault
After a scare the previous week, it was back to usual form for the Owatonna Huskies football team as they battered Faribault 56-7 Friday night. The win kept the Huskies unbeaten string alive at five games this season.
The Huskies smoked Faribault with 21 points in each of the first two quarters to take a 42-7 lead at halftime. Owatonna added two more touchdowns in the second half, one in each quarter, while holding Faribault scoreless throughout the half.
Quarterback Brayden Truelson and tailback Tanner Hall led Owatonna’s offensive attack each with 143 yards, Truelson in the air and Hall on the ground. Truelson had a near-perfect passing attack as he connected on 9 of 10 attempts and scored two touchdowns.
In receiving, Payton Beyer led the Huskies’ attack with 95 yards and two touchdowns.
With Friday’s impressive victory, Owatonna has now outscored its opponents this season 250-41. The defending state champion Huskies is ranked number one in Minnesota.
This week is homecoming at Owatonna. The Huskies will battle with Mankato West (4-1) Friday night. Mankato West’s only loss this season came to Rochester Century in early September.
