Jerry Paul Rysavy Sr., 99

Jerry Paul Rysavy Sr., age 99, passed away surrounded by his family Jan. 15, 2016, at Koda Living Community in Owatonna.
Friends may greet the family 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Rd) and one hour prior to the funeral service at church. Funeral Mass is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. Interment will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Litomysl.
Jerry was born on June 8, 1916, in Aurora Township to John and Frances (Svercl) Rysavy. He grew up in Somerset Township where he attended school through 8th grade. He worked on the family farm until he married Roselyn Simon in 1940’s. The wedding took place in the basement of Litomysl church which was under construction at the time.
After they were married Jerry and Roselyn bought their own farm and that is where they raised their seven children. He farmed for 40 years until “retiring” in 1980 when he moved into town. 
In his retirement he could always be seen out on the farm helping out where ever he could. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, playing cards, fishing and traveling with Roselyn, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Roselyn of 75 years; children, Jerry (Mary Ann) Rysavy, Owatonna, Thomas (Ana) Rysavy, Random Lake, Wisconsin, Kenneth (Betty) Rysavy, Laurens, South Carolina, Joseph (Cheryl) Rysavy, Owatonna, Michael Rysavy, Ellendale, Rita (Gary) Wandrey, Owatonna; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law Arlys Rysavy; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Rysavy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by one son, David Rysavy; daughter-in law, Gail Rysavy; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; five brothers; and two sisters. He was the last of his immediate family.
