Lawrence Raymond Esplan, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota passed away at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, Minnesota on November 11, 2022, at 77-years-old after a short illness. He was born to Sylvester and Doris (Nordine) Esplan on August 10, 1945, in Ordnance, Oregon and moved to Blooming Prairie, Minnesota when he was 4-years-old.  He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1963.  He joined the United States Navy in July of 1963 and proudly served on the USS Independence. He was honorably discharged in September of 1966. He married Kathy Butler in 1967 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newry, Minnesota.

Lawrence was lovingly called “Junior” by his family and close friends.  Junior is survived by his mother, Doris; wife, Kathy; son, Barry of Washington D.C.; daughter, Tammy Goemaat; three grandchildren, Jacob, Ellie, and Mason of Rochester, Minnesota; siblings, Judy (Merle) Hoy, Kenny (Judy) Esplan, Caren (Roger) Swearingen, Curtis (Cindy) Esplan, Joanne (Tom) Perkins, Mary Jane (Steve) Linde, Darin Esplan; and many, many wonderful nieces and nephews.  Junior greatly enjoyed his family, good friends, playing golf, automobiles, dancing, playing cards, cribbage, reading and watching westerns. He was a member of the V.F.W., Post 878.  He maintained a positive outlook on life until the end and was surrounded by family daily in his last few weeks.

A memorial mass was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. Visitation took place for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newry, Minnesota at a later date. Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie is assisting the family with arrangements.
