Morgan returns to SCFF grandstand

LoCash duo to perform Wednesday

Two years ago, Craig Morgan fans had to take a literal rain check for his performance at the Steele County Free Fair.

This year, they can cash it in.

Morgan is returning to Owatonna for the summer’s biggest event; he’ll headline Friday night’s grandstand event at the SCFF.

Tickets for the show went on sale Wednesday at 3 p.m. – and this year, there’s a twist.

“We’re making it an event,” said Scott Kozelka, manager of the SCFF. “We’re going to offer VIP experiences, along with an experience for all of our guests, for all of our shows.”

That includes not only Morgan, but Wednesday’s grandstand show featuring LoCash, named “country music’s iconic feel-good duo” in 2021 by People, and Thursday’s performance by Hairball, the band “back by popular demand” for its 22nd consecutive show, Kozelka said.

Just 150 VIP tickets will be sold; the higher price gets concertgoers close to the stage in a party tent, with beverage tickets, appetizers, a swag bag and, of course, the show. They will also be allowed to park in the infield.

It’s not just for the musical acts, either. The VIP experience is also available for Saturday night’s Bulls and Barrels. This year, the bleachers for the rodeo will be on the south end of the arena, “so when the barrel racers are running in, they’re running right at” the spectators– from a distance, of course–Kozelka said.

Morgan’s special guest is Ashley Barron, who opened for Maddie and Tae at the SCFF last year.

LoCash will be joined by Drake Milligan, who placed third in “America’s Got Talent” last season.

Tickets, including VIP options for each event, are available online at tickets.scff.org.
