Paul Haubenschild, 83, Blooming Prairie

Paul Bruce Haubenschild, age 83, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

Paul was born on June 29, 1939, in Circle, Mont., to Paul and Matilda (Job) Haubenschild. He was raised by his aunt, Frances Ressler, from age two after his mother died giving birth to him. At the age of 13, Paul returned to Montana to live with his dad and help on their wheat farm.

After high school, he returned to the Blooming Prairie area to work at Owatonna Canning Company. It was during this time he met Carolyn Andersen through a mutual friend. The couple was united in marriage on June 27, 1959, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Litomysl. Paul and Carolyn were blessed with three children, Carol, Michael, and James.

He loved horseback riding and camping- especially trips to the Black Hills, attending auctions with Carolyn, and was a dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteer. Paul enjoyed collecting Western saddles, spurs, and branding irons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Paul is survived by his children, Carol (Cecil) Boyd of Hope, and Michael Haubenschild of Geneva; six grandchildren, Annie, Adam, Amanda, Derek, Rebecca, and Brandon; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; parents, Paul and Matilda; and son, James.

The funeral service for Paul will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Bixby.
