Victor Wanous, 83, Owatonna

Victor J. Wanous, lifelong resident of Owatonna, died Aug. 6, 2021 in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial is set for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. Interment will follow with Military rites by Steele County Funeral Unit at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.Victor was born March 26, 1938 in Aurora Township rural Steele County, the son of Jerry and Albina (Maravac) Wanous. Victor was a graduate of Blooming Prairie High School.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1961 and served our country for two years. Victor was united in marriage to Delores Srsen on Oct. 26, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home in Owatonna raising one daughter LaVonne.
Vic worked at Tubeco when he was younger and then went to work for the Owatonna Canning Company in production for 47 years until he retired. He was a member of the Owatonna American Legion and Sacred Heart Church. His life interests include playing the button accordion, old-time music, watching the Twins, polka festivals, vegetable gardening and canning.
In retirement, he enjoyed traveling to other countries with his daughter and son-in-law and having lunch with his work buddies. Vic will be remembered for his infectious smile and kind-hearted spirit.Victor will be missed by his daughter LaVonne (Al) Vangen of Owatonna.
He is preceded in death by his wife Delores, brothers Jerome, George and Eugene Wanous, sisters Margaret Anderson, Libbie Srsen, Lucille LaCanne and Rosie Wanous.
