Anthony J. "Bud" Peka, 98, Owatonna, MN

Anthony J. "Bud" Peka was born on July 28, 1926, in Crosby, ND, and passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Owatonna Hospital in Owatonna, MN.

With his first wife, Loretta, they raised six children. She preceded him in death. Bud is survived by his loving wife, Susan Hagen; children: Allen and Tina Peka, Ken Peka, Barb and Steve Wendt, Gary and Sue Peka, Kathy and Dan Warner, and Mary Sue Kaser; daughter-in-law Mary Peka; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

Bud served in the US Navy, Pacific Theatre, during WWII, and is a Life Member of the VFW. He retired from Federated Insurance Company.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (512 S. Elm Ave, Owatonna). Visitation prior to the Mass in the church gathering area, commencing at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until the time of Mass. Military honors will be provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit. A song Bud wrote and recorded, "Glory, Glory, Glory, How I Found the Lord" will be played at the Funeral Mass. Lunch will be served in Joseph Hall, following the Mass. Inurnment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s School and Moonlighters Exchange Club of Owatonna for the new veterans memorial.
