A regular school board meeting of the School Board of Independent School District #756, Blooming Prairie, 
Minnesota, was held in the High School Media Center on Monday May 15, 2023 at 7:15 p.m. (Open Forum at 7:00 p.m.)

D. Staff Development Waiver for FY 2024
Motion by Crystal Studer and seconded by Jon Sunde to approve the BPTA vote to waive 2% set-a-side of general education aid for FY 24 staff development and designate $30,000 toward staff development. Motion carried. (7 Aye/0 Nay)
E. Preliminary Budget
Motion by Kelly Braaten and seconded by Jon Sunde to approve the FY 2023-24 preliminary budget. Motion carried.

F. Fee Proposals
Motion by Melissa Stoen and seconded by Jenny Thurnau to approve the FY 2023-24 fee 
proposals that were 
presented. Motion

G. Maternity Leave
Motion by Jenny Thurnau and seconded by Crystal Studer to approve Haley Smith’s maternity leave request. (7 Aye/0 Nay)
H. Resolution Proposing to Place Personnel on Unrequested Leave of Absence
Motion by Jon Sunde and seconded by Jenny Thurnau to approve the proposal to place Brenda Berg on an unrequested leave of absence. Motion carried. (7 Aye/0 Nay)

Motion by Crystal Studer and seconded by Jenny Thurnau to approve the special education

The enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year per JMC as of May 8, 2023 is 477 at the 
elementary school (grades K-6) and 374 at the high school (grades 7-12) (355 attending BPHS and approximately 19 PSEO).

June 15, 2023 at 6:00 a.m. in the High School Media Center.
Tentatively, the next Regular School Board Meeting will be Monday June 19, 2023 at
7:15 p.m. in the High School Media Center (Open Forum begins at 7:00 p.m.).
A complete copy of the official minutes may be found in their entirety in the official minute
book located in the superintendent’s office at the high school; 
however, they will not be available until approved by the School Board.
