BP farm stand to donate to cancer group fundraiser
Jacob Haukoos is reflected in the large trailer he uses to haul his produce to markets in the area. This weekend, he is selling mostly fall items -- pumpkins, mums, native grasses, Indian corn and squash -- and donating 25% of his proceeds to the Blooming Prairie Cancer Group. When someone stole his custom farm stand from a parking lot in Blooming Prairie, Jacob Haukoos said he felt like quitting.
Instead, he started over, and is giving back.
All weekend, Haukoos will be at the spot where his stand was stolen, selling his fresh produce and fall items.
He will donate 25% of all proceeds from the sale of the fall items – including pumpkins, mums, grasses, squash, hay bales and Indian corn – to the BP Cancer Group, which is holding its annual fundraiser this weekend.
Haukoos will be at his stand through noon on Sunday; Miner’s Outdoor & Rec has donated the use of a golf cart, so Haukoos is also offering free delivery in Blooming Prairie.
By early Friday afternoon, just a few hours into the sale, a donation board displayed at the stand indicated more than $50 earmarked for the cancer group.
Haukoos is well-stocked; nearly 100 mums of various colors were lined up, as were pumpkins of white, silver, bright orange, traditional orange and more.
