BREAKING NEWS: Owatonna senior killed in car crash

An Owatonna High School senior, who was expected to graduate from high school on June 7, died over the weekend, according to a Facebook post from the Owatonna High School Cheerleading team.

“It is with broken hearts we have to say goodbye to our Olivia [Flores]. She was such an amazing cheerleader, friend and person,” the post read. “She touched many lives and our lives will forever be changed from her brightening them.”

The school released a statement Monday morning:

“Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Olivia Flores, a senior at Owatonna High School. Many supports are available at Owatonna High School for our students following this tragedy. Additional counselors and staff will be at the school throughout the week. Students are encouraged to reach out to OHS staff should they need support. If families have any concerns about their child, they should also reach out to the staff.”

According to multiple news outlets, Flores did not survive a crash over the weekend in Rochester.

“On May 18 around 5:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to an injury accident at Memorial Parkway SW and 12th St SW.,” A Facebook post from the city of Rochester stated. “Three vehicles, including a State Patrol squad, were involved in the crash. A total of seven people were inside the vehicles and all of them were transported for medical care. RPD is assisting with the investigation.”
