A Rosemount woman was killed Monday in an early morning crash on U.S. Highway 14 south of Owatonna, near its juncture with U.S. Highway 218.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Nybol Chol Dhul, 23, was driving east when her vehicle collided with a semi-trailer truck that was also eastbound.

Dhul’s car ended up in the median; the semi, driven by Zachary August Bauer, 48, of St. Peter, came to rest on the south side of U.S. 14. He was not injured.

Dhul was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 4:25 a.m.

Both drivers had their seat belts fastened; it is unknown if alcohol was a factor, the patrol report says.

In addition to the MSP, crews from the Steele County Sheriff’s Office, Owatonna Police Department and Mayo Ambulance responded.

The crash and subsequent investigation closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 14 until about noon.
