Carolynn Masson, 79, Owatonna
Carolynn Mary Masson (née Scherber), aged 79, of Owatonna, passed away quietly and in the company of sparrows after a long illness on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 810 S. Cedar Ave., Owatonna. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the mass at church starting at 9:30 a.m. There will be a parish rosary recited at 9:15 a.m. at the church.
Carolynn was raised on a farm in rural Minnesota. Very creative throughout her life, she spent long hours quilting, painting, playing piano and singing. She had a passion for books, especially English murder mysteries. She also loved coffee, crossword puzzles, lighthouses, Jeopardy, Irish folk music and cream soda. She valued privacy, gentle humor and a clean home.
Carolynn was a devout Catholic, with a particular fondness for the Christmas season: for several years, she and her husband created rustic wooden Santas to distribute to friends and relatives. She doted on her children and enjoyed keeping everyone abreast of events in the lives of a scattered family.
An indelible impression will be left on the hearts of Carolynn’s survivors: husband Allen; sister Letha Hinman; daughter Jill (Jeff Gillis); sons Mark and Todd (Kelly); grandsons Preston and Michael; granddaughter Eleanor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Charlene Gratz and Jeanne Trombley; brother Joseph Scherber.
