Cheryl Olson, 82, Owatonna

Cheryl Olson, age 82, of Owatonna, passed away Feb. 5, 2025, surrounded by family, after a long illness.

Friends may greet the family from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cheryl was born to Leonard and Frances Prescott in Minneapolis. She graduated from Edison High School in 1960.

After a 4-year courtship, Cheryl married Russell Obernolte Jr. on July 22, 1961, in Minneapolis. The couple had four children: Debbie, Scott, Lee, and Todd. In 1976, Cheryl and Russell moved to Owatonna where they owned and ran several businesses. Russell passed away in 1989.

In 1992, Cheryl married David Olson in Owatonna. Cheryl continued to work as a guardian ad litem for many years.

Cheryl coached volleyball, basketball, flag football, and was a Boy Scout leader. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, and traveling south with David during the winter in their RV.

Cheryl is survived by her husband David; children: Deborah Braulik, Scott (Lori) Obernolte, Lee (Maia) Obernolte, and Todd (Jeannette) Obernolte; stepdaughter, Jill (Dick) Strodtman; 12 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
