Cheryl “Sherry” Wacek, 76, Owatonna

Cheryl “Sherry” Wacek of Owatonna, died June 18, 2025, at her home with her family by her side after a 14-month battle with cancer.

A funeral service is set for Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, 43089 180th St., Morristown. Friends may greet the family on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Cheryl was born May 30, 1949, the daughter of Edward and Arloine (Solberg) Bluhm in Tomah, Wis. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1967.

Cheryl was married to Tom Wacek on April 4, 1970, at Holy Trinity in Litomysl. She began her working career at Federated Insurance for 27 years. She then worked at Terra in Faribault, the Gandy Company in Owatonna, and finally Cole’s Electric in Owatonna from which she retired.

Cheryl was an animal lover and enjoyed her flower garden. She was a babysitter for the neighbor girls for many years and in turn they became part of the family.

Cheryl is survived by husband of 55 years, Tom; daughter Nicole Wacek of Owatonna; siblings: Nan (Bob) Chambers of Owatonna, Lori Coon of Indianapolis, Ind., and Stacy (Jim) Hansen of Owatonna; and all of the Joe and Regina Wacek Family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law Joe and Regina Wacek; brother Randy, in-laws: Bunny Wacek, Gary Wigham, Dale and Susan Wacek; and nephews Rick and Brad.

Memorials are preferred to the family for a donation to be made in Cheryl’s name at a later date.
