Curtis Christianson, 87, Austin

Curtis Mervin Christianson, age 87 of Austin, formerly of Blooming Prairie, passed away Tuesday evening, April 23, 2019 at St. Mark’s Living in Austin.
Curtis was born in Blooming Prairie, to Obert and Irene (Johnson) Christianson on Feb. 13, 1932. He attended Blooming Prairie High School, graduating in 1950. Following high school, on Aug. 21, 1951, Curtis enlisted into the United States Air Force proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge on Aug. 20, 1955.
He married Ann Morton in Blooming Prairie, on Feb. 18, 1951. The first years of their marriage were spent in Amarillo, Texas while Curtis was in the Air Force. In August of 1955, they returned to Blooming Prairie where Curtis and Ann operated T.S. Morton & Son Company. He spent his entire working career as a plumber. Curtis also served as a Blooming Prairie fireman, and was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
He loved to fish, enjoyed traveling, motorhome trips, camping, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycle. Curtis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Brad Christianson of Blooming Prairie, Beth (Bob) Hanson of Winona; eight grandchildren: Travis, Abigayle, Tiffany, Toni, Brandon, Mark, Conner, and Colton; six great grandchildren; close family friend, Gayle Loverink, of Austin; sisters, Orene Dennis of Blooming Prairie, Norma Hartzell of Stewartville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Obert and Irene Christianson; wife, Ann Christianson in 2002; granddaughter, Andrea Lyn; and brother, Duane Christianson.
Memorial services were held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie. Interment was held Friday morning before the service in Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin. Military honors by the Blooming Prairie Honor Guard. Services are prearranged and performed with Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.
