Curtis J. Karsten, 69, of rural Waseca died on his birthday, July 18, 2025, after a trip to town, and a day full of fun and laughter with his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on the family farm Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at 4 p.m. Friends may gather starting at 3 p.m. and are asked to bring a lawn chair for the service. A private burial will take place on the family plot at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca, at a later date.

Curtis was born July 18, 1956, in Waseca, the son of Willard C. and Helen (Hager) Karsten. Curtis attended and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1975.

After high school, Curtis went right to work for the Owatonna Tool Company and retired from there in 2001. In retirement, he worked for Born Well Drilling, along with Dahle Farms - a job he really enjoyed. He formally retired in 2021.

Curtis was a life member of the Owatonna Eagles. His life interests include wood working, and trips ‘up north’ hunting and fishing. Curtis just liked to hang out with his family and friends.

Curtis is survived by his siblings: Charlie (Kris) Karsten, Dennis (Connie) Karsten, Wayne (Kim) Karsten and Lori (Doug) Smith. Additional survivors include his nieces and nephews: Jason (Dawn) Karsten, Brandon (Tabitha) Karsten, Trisha (Brad) Gauding, Natasha (Chris) Grunzke, Casey (Alex) Johnson, Cody (Brianna) Johnson and Tyler (Kaeley) Smith; step-nephew James (Sara) Doud; along with many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great-nephew, Alex Karsten.
