Debra Johnston, 54, Owatonna
Debra “Deb” Johnston, age 54, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully in Sioux Falls, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 S. Elm St., Owatonna. Friends may greet the family from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Brick Meger Funeral Home,1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, and one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the church.
Deb was the daughter of Lawrence Miller and Anna Marie (Woitas) Miller. Deb was born April 2, 1970, in Rochester, and grew up on a farm near Blooming Prairie. Deb graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1988 and went on to complete a two-year degree in Business Administration from Austin Community College.
Deb started her career at Truth Hardware and spent over 35 years working as a forklift operator and most recently as a cycle counter.
Deb married Boyd Johnston in Owatonna on Aug. 28, 1993. Deb and Boyd had two sons, Brandon and Luke.
Deb enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, camping, gardening, planting flowers and spending time with her family. Deb finished her life doing what she loved, vacationing on the beach with several of her family members. Deb and Boyd also recently celebrated their 30-year anniversary on the beach in Hawaii. Deb will be reunited in heaven with her father who passed away in 2004 and her mother who passed away when she was only two months old.
Deb will be deeply missed by all her surviving family including her husband Boyd; sons Brandon (Tricia Bierschbach) and Luke; sisters: Linda Enstad, Nancy Mullenbach, Diane Wollenburg, Ginger Willams, Teresa Drees, Karen Tienter, Bonnie Trotman, and Tina Borgen; brother Mark Miller; and nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
