Dennis Franklin Thompson, age 79, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Dennis was born on June 28, 1945, in Aitkin, Minn., to Robert and Ethel Thompson. He was raised on a small dairy farm in the Glory Community of Aitkin County and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1963. From 1965 to 1967, he proudly served in the United States Army.

In 1970, Dennis married Debbie Wagner, and together they built a life full of love, raising two children, Brooks and DJ.

Dennis spent his career working in the automotive business from 1980 until his retirement.

Dennis had a deep love for the outdoors and treasured time spent deer hunting, fishing, camping, trap shooting, and bird watching. He also enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage, vacationing in Florida, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of Minnesota Pheasants for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Debbie; daughter Brooks Thompson (Brian Brenner); son DJ Thompson; grandchildren Megan and Jack Emery; brother Robert (Carolyne) Thompson; sister Annette Hall; mother-in-law Helen Mary Wagner; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
