Dorothy Morman, 86, Owatonna

Dorothy Morman died Oct. 4, 2024, at her home in Owatonna.
Dorothy Mae Morman was born on June 18, 1938, in Hettinger, N.D., to Walter and Ethel
(Jennings) Outka. Dorothy graduated from Hettinger High School and attended college at
the University of North Dakota where she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in
nursing.

Dorothy met Donald Morman during college and the couple was married Sept. 3, 1960, on
the UND campus.  After getting married, Dorothy and Don moved around, both state side and in Europe, due
to Don’s military commitment. After Don’s military commitment was fulfilled, they settled
in Minnesota where they had three children.

Dorothy worked at Owatonna Hospital during the early 70’s. In 1976, the family moved to
Des Moines, where Don worked at Federated Insurance and Dorothy worked in the Mental
Health Unit at Mercy Hospital. In 1986, the family moved back to Owatonna where Don
continued to work for Federated Insurance and Dorothy worked at the Owatonna Hospital.
Later, she began working at Steele County Public Health where she was passionate about
working with children and teens until her retirement.

Dorothy was a devout Catholic and after retirement she enjoyed volunteering with a variety
of organizations including St. Vincent de Paul Society and Meals on Wheels. Dorothy
enjoyed biking with the Weakenders Bike Club and traveling with Don.

After Don’s death, she enjoyed spending her time being active with Women’s Club, Book
Club, Bridge Club, and swimming with the Medford Mermaids.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Donald Morman and son Daniel Morman.
She is survived by her daughter Debra (Jason) Leuzzi of Brisbane, Australia; her son
Douglas Lukas (Sarah Breckner) of Oceanside, Calif.; grandson Sasha Lukas; and
granddaughters Kiva Lukas and Breana Daniels Morman.

Friends may greet the family at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until the time of service on
Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. Mass of Christian
Burial will begin at 11 a.m., followed by inurnment at Sacred Heart Cemetery
Columbarium.
