Edith Jandro, 81, Owatonna

Edith Jandro, 81, Owatonna, obituary

Edith Ann Jandro of Owatonna, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by loved ones. Edie, as she was affectionately called, was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa. The family moved to Rushford, Minn., and later to Lewiston, where Edie graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961. She attended Winona State University and went on to nursing school to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

She married Alfred "Fred" Jandro in 1966, and the couple settled in Owatonna, where Edie worked as an LPN at Cedarview Nursing Home.

Edie doted on her family and loved nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed organizing yearly extended-family reunions, and memories with loved ones were her most cherished moments.

She had a lifelong love of reading, enjoyed taking walks among nature, and relished trips and vacations with family. Her devotion to her family led her to an interest in compiling a comprehensive family genealogy, a labor of love.

Her faith was also very important to her, and Edie was a longtime, active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Edith will be missed by her two daughters, Kelly, of Owatonna; Terri (Jim) Lutes of Harmony; and son, Tim (Rachel) of Andover; grandchildren Erin (Justin) Cady, Halle (Adam) Sutter, Collin (Kaitlin) Scott, Nick Jandro, Luke Jandro, Matt (Ellie) Lutes, and Amanda Pearson; great-grandchildren Jackson, Lydia, Emmitt, and Lana; brothers John (Pat) Manion, and Luther (Ann) Manion; sisters-in-law Lois Malecha, Diane Rech, Betty Mullenberg, Ramona Jandro, Phyllis Jandro, and Sandy Jandro; brother in-law Joe Jandro; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Fred, her parents, John and Elsie (Pye), and her sister, Maureen Hugunin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 810 S. Cedar Ave., Owatonna, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.
