Elsie Maria Jacobsen, 75, Owatonna

Elsie Maria Jacobsen, 75, Owatonna, obituary

Elsie Maria Jacobsen joined the choir of God’s angels on July 6, 2025.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday July 12, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church (609 Lincoln Ave S, Owatonna).  Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.

Elsie Maria was born on September 14, 1949, to Stanley and Elizabeth Havel (Argalas). One of two children, Elsie attended and graduated from Montgomery High School. Elsie married Paul Huisman (later divorced), with whom she had two handsome boys, Joseph and Craig. On December 5, 1987, Elsie married the man she spent the rest of her days with, Charles Jacobsen. Charles and Elsie had another handsome son, Charles JR (Chuck).

Elsie spent much of her career in customer service, waitressing at Perkins, or working in movie checkout at Cashwise, until the greatest joys of her life came along, her grandchildren.  Elsie enjoyed providing daycare for her grandchildren daily. She dedicated the next 14 years to accommodating her grandchildren in their lives and adventures.

Elsie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always in for a good party and well-known for her hour-long Minnesota goodbyes.

Elsie will be greatly missed by her husband of 40 years, Charles; their three sons: Joseph (Kathey) Huisman of Owatonna, Craig (Nicole) Huisman of Albert Lea, and Chuck (Jaclyn Kern) Jacobsen of Owatonna; grandchildren: Justin and Chase Huisman, Sierra (Cody Olson) Huisman, Hannah and Isaiah Huisman, and Avery Jacobsen; bonus grandchildren: Danielle (Ryan Holcomb) Schroeder, Robecca (Dan Johnson) Schroeder, Nichole (Randall) Larson, and Delaney Stevens; one great-grandchild, Deklyn Olson; bonus great- grandchildren: Charlotte and Owen Holcomb, Scott, Lizzy, Jana, Beau, Tay, Hank, and Cindi Johnson, Kaylee and Olivia (Couch) Alexander, and Harmony (Larson); brother, Jim (Jane) Havel; brothers-in-law, Gene and Richard Jacobsen; and sister-in-law, Luann Hanson.

Many family and friends will greet her in Heaven with open arms.
