Eugene Knutson, 80, Owatonna

Eugene Raymond Knutson of Owatonna passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Birchwood Cottages from Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 80 years, 11 months, and 14 days old.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Virgie (Sandeen) and Raymond Knutson, brother Roland Knutson, Sisters Corrine Clarkin, Margaret Lucht and Carole Knutson.

Eugene was born on July 11,1943, to Virgie and Raymond Knutson. He lived in rural Nicollet County and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1961. He moved to St. Peter after his father passed away in 1961. He worked at St. Clair’s Mens Clothing Stores in both Waseca and Owatonna, retiring in 2015.

Gene was a kind and gentle soul. He loved flowers, listening to music, and watching HGTV. Gene had a gift of calming every baby he ever held. He enjoyed visiting his family and his adopted family, The Battig’s, where he was lovingly called “Uncle Gene.”

Final resting place will be: Norseland Luthern Church Cemetery, west of St. Peter. GPS: 37777 Minnesota Hwy 22, St. Peter. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the lower level of the church at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome.
