Federated, Lynx team up with jersey patch

Federated Insurance and the Minnesota Lynx teamed up for a youth basketball clinic and ceremonial jersey patch unveiling at Owatonna High School last week to highlight Federated’s new partnership with the Lynx.

Members of the Lynx and Federated staff rolled out the new jerseys, which are set to debut on May 4 as part of the Lynx preseason game against the Chicago Sky.

“We are incredibly proud to show our support for women’s professional sports as the new jersey patch partner for the Minnesota Lynx,” said Federated Insurance Chairman Jeff Fetters. “The Lynx are a tremendously talented team both on and off the court, and a true source of pride for our state. Federated Insurance is fortunate to have a longstanding relationship with the Lynx, as our two organizations share many of the same values – including a passion for giving back to the community and a firm commitment to a championship culture.”

A press release from the Minnesota Lynx reads, “The multi-year deal will focus on elevating

women’s sports and fostering meaningful impact and change in communities across the state.”

However, the real winners of the day were the local female athletes who had the opportunity to sharpen their skills with Lynx players Diamond Miller and Courtney Williams.

A total of 55 local athletes ranging from fourth to ninth grade attended the hour-long camp that included drills, one-on-one and three-on-three scrimmages, shooting competitions, and even some conditioning.

Smiles were abundant and the line for autographs and pictures seemingly endless as athletes got to spend time with some of the WNBA’s stars.

Lynx jerseys featuring the new Federated Insurance patch can be bought at the Lynx team stores in Target Center.

According to the Lynx, the patch will be featured on all jerseys, including the Heroine, Explorer, and Rebel edition uniforms.
