Foremost to close brewpub Feb. 28

Foremost Brewing Cooperative, Owatonna, closing, 2025
As one local brewery moves to a larger location, another Owatonna business will close.
The board of directors for Foremost Brewing Cooperative made the announcement Monday on Facebook.
“After four years of serving our community and sharing our passion for craft beer, we have made the difficult decision to close the brewpub,” it said.
The decision was made after considering the financial situation “and several months of challenging business conditions,” the announcement continued.
“While we are immensely proud of what we’ve built together … we must face the reality that continuing operations is no longer sustainable,” the board wrote.
The cooperative was formed in 2017; the brewpub opened in November 2020 after major renovations on the building at 131 W. Broadway.
The business will operate as usual through BobFest, set for Feb. 22, then as supplies allow through the remainder of the month.
It will close on Feb. 28.
Gift cards and reservations will be honored through Feb. 22, but a menu reduction is likely after that date, affecting availability.
The business assets, including the name, could be for sale, the announcement said. While the building is listed separately, the two could be sold together.
