Blooming Prairie’s Annaka Forsberg defended her Class A state high jump title with a winning height of five feet, four inches at St. Michael-Albertville High School today.
The junior earned a three-round bye to kick off the competition and began jumping at the five-foot, two-inch mark.
After hitting her mark on the first attempt, she was able to forego the next jump just one inch higher.
When the junior stepped up to the runway for her next attempt at five feet, four inches, just three other competitors remained.
While Forsberg was unsuccessful in her first attempt, she nailed her second leap and landed herself a second consecutive title after all other jumpers failed to clear the bar.
Forsberg will also compete in the girls’ triple jump competition on Friday, June 9 at 3:30 p.m.
