Geraldine “Geri” Felstul, 89, Texas
Geraldine “Geri” Felstul, 89, peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, in Conroe, Texas, surrounded by her loving family at home. Born on Sept. 28, 1935, in Austin, to Sydney and Evelyn Amundson, Geri grew up on a farm near Blooming Prairie, with her older sister and three younger brothers. She treasured her childhood memories, from attending a one-room schoolhouse to forming lifelong friendships in the close-knit community. Geri attended St. Olaf College, where she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Felstul. She completed her education degree at Macalester College, and in 1957, married Bob, an Air Force fighter pilot. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years of marriage, adopting two wonderful children, David and Sara, and settling in Duluth, where Geri embarked on a fulfilling teaching career. Dedicated to education, Geri taught for over 32 years and retired in 1999 as a beloved teacher and preschool director in Mankato. Her genuine love for learning touched thousands of students, and she often taught children of her former students. Geri will be most remembered for her caring, loving, and gentle nature—qualities that endeared her to everyone she met. After retiring, Geri and Bob moved to Bella Vista and then Rogers, Ark., where she remained deeply involved in her community. She contributed her time and passion to the Professional Education Organization, Helping Hands thrift store, and served as an advocate for children in the legal system.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was very active in her church. In 2022, they relocated to Conroe, Texas, to be nearer to their daughter and grandchildren. Geri treasured the time she spent with friends and family. Her hobbies included reading, playing bridge, traveling, and her daily Wordle puzzle. Her musical interests and talents also brought her much enjoyment throughout her life. Geri was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Marian and Roger.
She is survived by her devoted husband Bob, her cherished children David and Sara, her adored grandchildren Ashley, Andrew, and Megan, their spouses, six precious great-grandchildren, and her brothers Marvin and Gordy.
