Helen Schoenfeld, 98, Waseca
Helen Schoenfeld died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at Colony Court, in Waseca.
Helen Lorraine Schoenfeld was born July 4, 1926, in Mankato, to Herbert and Selma
(Strehlo) Proehl. Helen was baptized August 1, 1926. She attended country school in
Mapleton. She was confirmed in her faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton in
1940.
She was united in marriage to Clifford Schoenfeld at St. John’s Church in Waseca, on Dec.
12, 1945. She was beside her husband as a farm wife at first in Iosco Township in Waseca
County and then in 1949, the family moved to Deerfield Township, and they continued
farming until their retirement.
Helen’s life interests included embroidering, reading, travelling, and taking bus trips. She
also enjoyed being a Sunday School Teacher.
Helen is survived by children: Harold (Diane) Schoenfeld, Owatonna, Howard (Mary Jo)
Schoenfeld, Faribault, Gaylen (Bonnie) Schoenfeld, Lester Prairie, Gordon (Margaret)
Schoenfeld, Owatonna, and Sandra (David) Miller, Oxnord, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; 52
great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and one brother Dwayne (Anita) Proehl, St.
Paul.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff; four great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Vivian and Elaine; one brother Clarence; one brother-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 306
Central Ave. W., Medford. Friends may greet the family from 9-11 a.m. at the church. A
luncheon will follow the funeral service in the lower level of the church, with interment at
Woodville Cemetery in Waseca afterward.
