The Owatonna Huskies girls’ tennis traveled to Lakeville North High School on Monday to face the host Panthers and Eden Prairie Eagles in their season-opening triangular where the team was held winless across two matches.

Owatonna started its day with a 7-0 loss to the Eagles with no match lasting longer than two sets.

The No. 1 doubles pairing of Hannah and Lauren Nelson put up the best fight of the opening match for the Huskies and lost 6-1 and 6-4.

Owatonna then moved on to face Lakeville North in its final match of the day.

The Huskies faced a similar story against the Panthers and came out with a 6-1 loss.

The lone athlete to secure a win was No. 4 singles athlete Patty Procopio, who won 7-5 and 6-3 in two sets.

Owatonna’s next action will be at home against Austin and Faribault on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 9 a.m.

Matches will be played at the former Owatonna High School campus.
