Barbara Snyder, 79, Owatonna

Barbara Snyder 79, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully with family on May 12, 2026.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1946, in Faribault, to John and Eleanor (Meehl) Berg. Barb grew up in Faribault, attended local schools, and graduated from Faribault High School with the Class of 1964.

On May 22, 1965, Barb married Harold Snyder, and together they shared a loving marriage of 60 years.

She worked at several banks before finishing her career in the accounting department at Jostens. Barb enjoyed going for coffee with friends, playing word games on her iPhone, and reading books. Playing cards with family and friends was a favorite pastime, and in later years she especially enjoyed watching game shows with her dog by her side.

Classic cars were a shared passion for Barb and Harold and their close-knit “car gang” of friends. Barb loved to bake and was well known for her angel food birthday cake and lemon jelly roll. In her younger years, she drove fast in her Trans Am, and there was never a carnival ride too scary for her.

Barb is survived by her children, Dawn Skala, Dan (Patty) Snyder; grandchildren, Derek (Kayla) Skala, Chantel (Ben) Staska, Christian Snyder, Cooper Snyder; great grandchildren, Brooks Skala, Riley Skala, and Briggs Staska; sisters, Sandra Berg, Diana Berg, Sharon (Mike) Golen; and brother, Mike (Annette) Berg.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents, John and Eleanor Berg, and her son-in-law Ron Skala.

Memorial visitation will be held at Brick-Meger Funeral Home,1603 Austin Road. Owatonna, on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 12 to 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery for immediate family only.
