Donald Vogt, 82, Owatonna

Donald W. Vogt, age 82, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, in Owatonna.

Friends greeted the family Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral Service was Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, presided by Rev. Amanda Floy, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home. Interment will be later.

Don was born in Clara City, Minn. He grew up in Owatonna with his parents George and Eva Nicolai. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1959. Don married his high school sweetheart Kay Martin in 1960.

He worked at Muckles then Owatonna Tool Company retiring after 25 plus years.

Don and Kay traveled to Hawaii and a couple cruises, but his favorite place in the world was his cabin on North Long Lake in Brainerd.

His passions in life were gardening, fishing, deer hunting, and tinkering with all kinds of engines.

He loved meeting his “Burger King Breakfast Club” for coffee. Don and Kay hosted a family reunion weekend “Don Fest” at the cabin every July.

Don is survived by children, Dave (Nancy), Brainerd; Tom (Sherri), Owatonna; Leslie (Wayne) Hedberg, Yuma, Arizona; and Karie (Bob) Seykora, Owatonna; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and one brother-in-law Glen and his special friend Kathryn of Eugene, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his, wife Kathryn, parents, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to North Long Lake Association or Benedictine Living Community: Piano Project 2022.
