Eileen Ptacek, 83, Owatonna
Eileen Lorraine Ptacek, 83, of Owatonna died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at Traditions II of Owatonna.
Mass of Christian Burial is set for Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020 from 5 –7 p.m. at Brick–Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna and one hour before the funeral mass on Thursday. There will be a Catholic Daughter’s rosary at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. An additional Catholic Daughter’s rosary will be said on Thursday at 10:40 a.m. at the church.
Eileen was born March 6, 1937 in Rochester, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Kruger) O’Connor. She attended high school in Blooming Prairie and was a member of the graduating class of 1955. After high school, Eileen attended teacher college in Little Falls. Eileen taught country school for a few years in Steele County.
She was united in marriage to Eugene Ptacek in 1957 at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. Eileen was a farm wife alongside her husband. Together the couple raised six children while farming. Eileen continued to run the farm after the tragic death of her husband Eugene in 1980.
Eileen was a devoted catholic and member of Sacred Heart Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Sweet Adeline’s and sang in the church choir. Her life interests included: snowmobiling, bowling, bird watching, gardening, flowers, caring for her cats and her family.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Steve) Nepstad, Dodge Center, Randy (Diann) Ptacek, Allan (Brenda) Ptacek, Renee Ptacek all of Owatonna; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters, Patricia Kermes and Fran Njos.
Eileen was preceded in death by husband, Eugene, parents, daughters, Linda Lahr, and Valerie Ptacek, and one brother Tom.
