Explosive offense keeps Blossoms on the winning path

Riding the strong arm of junior quarterback Drew Kittelson, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms trounced the Cardinals of Lewiston-Altura 53-29 Friday night, Oct. 23 at Lewiston.
Kittelson found four more touchdowns in his strong arm, making his total for the young season at 13. He also ran for one score.
Colin Jordison caught three touchdown passes and Cole Christianson nabbed a Kittelson aerial for a touchdown.
The other touchdowns came via rushing and were notched by Cade Christianson (1) and by Tyler Archer (2). Archer slammed through the Cardinals' line for 112 yards. Mitchell Fiebiger and Tyler Archer each had a two-point conversion.
The Blossoms totaled 485 yards through the air and on the ground.
The Cardinals had 436 total yards on offense.
On defense, linebacker Fiebiger notched 14 tackles to lead his team in that department. Brad Simon was next with nine tackles. Jordison and Luke Larkoski each picked up seven tackles.
"Our offense was hot and the defense also played well," remarked Coach Chad Gimbel. "They scored 22 of their 29 points in the final quarter when we had our reserves gaining some playing time," he added.
Blossom reserves began to enter the game after the first series of offensive plays.
Cade Christianson relieved quarterback Kittelson late in the game and gained 77 yards on five carries, the longest run for 69 yards.
Fiebiger had 4 pass receptions for 139 yards, the longest being for 68 yards. Jordison was next for the Blossoms with 4 receptions for 37 yards and 3 touchdowns.
It was a balanced offensive attack that carried the Awesome Blossoms to their third straight win of the season. "We have proven we can score through the air and on the ground," said Gimbel.
"This was definitely our best game of the year," Gimbel said.
It's Homecoming Week with the Awesome Blossoms hosting the Hayfield Vikings in a 7 o'clock game Friday night. The Vikings will try to test the Blossoms' secondary.
"It's a special week for our kids and we just want them to have fun but also staying focused," remarked Coach Gimbel.
