A gift that makes cleaning a breeze
I’m sure most people are busy checking out and playing with the new toys and gadgets they received for Christmas. I know I am.
One of the gifts that ended up under the Christmas tree with my name on it this year and intrigued me the most out of everything I received was a Robot Roomba, or in more plain terms a robot vacuum cleaner. I never thought I would find myself operating a robot in my own household, especially for cleaning chores. I quite honestly thought that’s what you have kids for. Silly me!
Dreading the call for duty, my children, along with my parents, teamed up to give me a robot this year. Hmmm, I can already see how this started out with the kids thinking, “What can we get dad that will get us out of cleaning the house?” Smart thinking, I’ll admit. And, I think I deserve a little credit for at least raising smart kids.
I first gave a robot to my mother a few years back. She has fallen in love with it and makes it sound like cleaning is the most fun activity ever. Now she is partially responsible for returning the generosity. She thought it would be a time saver for me since I work on the newspaper at all hours of the day and night in my office at home.
Vacuuming is one of the most hated chores in existence. It is laborious, monotonous and boring. In today’s fast-paced society, it’s simply too time-consuming. For many people, getting a robot vacuum is a wonderful way to clean up without devoting large amounts of time and energy.
The robot is dubbed as smart, simple and clean. There is a navigation system with a full suite of sensors enabling it to seamlessly navigate around obstacles, under furniture, and along wall edges, while avoiding stairs and other drop offs.
Roomba is equipped with a 3-stage cleaning system that uses dual, multi-surface brushes, a specially designed edge-sweeping brush and suction to attack everything from small particles to large debris on carpets and hard floors.
As I watch the robot zip around the house cleaning, I marvel at how innovations in technology have transformed how we live and work.
The robot vacuum can even clean when you’re not home. Some robots can be programmed to automatically start cleaning at specified times of the day. Aside from the initial set up, you are completely hands-off with the robots.
The real gift will come throughout the year as I enjoy all this free time I’ll now have because of the robot. I can sit back and enjoy the life of leisure. Something tells me that’s probably far from the case, however.
With a robot taking over in the house, I’m now left to dream about how something outdoors could revolutionize my life and trim hours off my weekly routine every summer.
Hey kids, Father’s Day is coming up, how about checking into a robotic lawn mower?
For now, cleaning certainly will become a breeze as I go in hot pursuit of utilizing my robotic vacuum cleaner.
