Hanson named Princess Kay finalist

One of Steele County’s eight dairy princesses has been selected as a finalist for Princess Kay of the Milky Way.

Jena Hanson of Owatonna will be competing for the top ambassador of the Minnesota dairy industry in August. She is one of 10 finalists for the honor. Judging was done May 15-16 in Minneapolis.

Hanson, 19, is currently attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she is seeking a degree with plans to join the dairy industry after graduating. She is an intern at Kashome Holsteins by Medford.

During high school, she took part in FFA, 4-H, choir, orchestra and tennis. She served as vice president for the local FFA chapter.

Princess Kay as well as the rest of the finalists will have their likeness carved out of butter during the Minnesota State Fair.
