Ione Whalen, 92, Owatonna

Ione Whalen, age 92, died Dec. 25, 2021 at Traditions of Owatonna. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at Owatonna Memorial Gardens. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the funeral at church starting at 10 a.m. Born in Cavalier, N.D. to parents George and Pearl (Routley) Kukuk. Ione married Kieran “Corky” Whalen in 1947 and the two moved to Owatonna in 1954. She was a member of St. Joseph Church where she donated 60 years as a volunteer. Ione was preceded in death by parents, husband, and one daughter Linda. She is survived by son, Steve (Judy) Whalen; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
