James Saufferer, 66, Owatonna
James “Jim” Saufferer, 66, of Owatonna, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, and a family who will miss him dearly.
Friends may greet the family Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, from 9-11 a.m. at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Rice Lake Cemetery in Claremont.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man who appreciated life’s simple pleasures, especially time spent outdoors. An avid fisherman and hunter, Jim found happiness in the peace and quiet of nature, whether he was casting a line, spending a day in the woods, or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. These were more than just hobbies to Jim; they were a part of who he was.
Above all, Jim’s greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his two sons, Jeremy (Emily) Saufferer and Joseph (Elizabeth) Saufferer; and his four beloved grandchildren, Charleigh, Ramsey, Suter, and Murphy. He is also survived by his sister, Dyann (Ernie) Reinhard, and his brother, John (Brenda) Saufferer, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth; his parents, Maynard and Dorothy; his sister, Charlotte Gill; and his brothers, Mike Hanson, and Jerry and Jeff Saufferer.
While his passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, the memories he created will live on. His family will remember the time spent together, the stories shared, and the simple moments that meant so much.
Though he may no longer be here to cast another line or head out for another hunt, we find comfort in imagining him somewhere peaceful, with the fish biting, the woods quiet, and no reason to hurry home.
Jim will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
