Jane Benson, 93, Austin

Jane F. Benson (née Meixner) passed away on March 4, 2026, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Friends may greet the family from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. There will be a Catholic Daughters of The Americas rosary recited at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Interment will be at the National Bohemian Cemetery, Owatonna.

Jane was born on Dec. 10, 1932, on the family farm in rural Owatonna, the daughter of Anton and Francis Meixner. She attended country school.

She was united in marriage to Robert Benson on April 15, 1955. She, along with her husband Robert (Bob), made their home in Owatonna and had two adopted daughters, Theresa (Terri) and Tammy. Jane worked at Collons Produce, Swift Produce and the Owatonna Tool Company.

Jane loved gardening and had many flowers beds. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and her many craft projects. She found great pleasure in spending time with family and friends. She was especially close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Theresa (Dean) Schuette, of Claremont, Tammy (Craig) Lee of Geneva; grandchildren Cassie (Tony) Zacharias of Owatonna, Chase Schuette of Peoria, Ill., Megan (Brandon Hamersma) Lee of Chester, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Lillian and Isabella Zacharias, Huckleberry Hamersma; and her many loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Robert, parents, Anton and Francis Meixner, sisters Rose Mary Pichner and Betty Pogones, brothers Edward, Tony, Bill, James, Myron, Richard, and George Meixner.

Memorials are preferred to the Steele County Humane Society or Sacred Heart Church, Owatonna.
