Jim Brandenburg, 80, Owatonna

Jim Brandenburg of Owatonna passed away at 80 years old on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, after a long illness at home with his family by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Jan and children Missy Herrian, Becky (Scott) Weig, Randy, Michael and Jessica Brandenburg. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Jason, Angela, Payton, Seth, Preston and Garrett; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Kirsten, Ian and Ashlyn and great-great granddaughter Isabella.
He lost his baby grandson Ethan in 2003. He was preceded in death by all his sisters and brothers Clem (Irma), Fabian, Helen (Loyd), Dorothy (Ken) and Nephew Steve.
James Charles Brandenburg was born on May 22, 1940 in Dolliver, Iowa, the youngest child of James Henry Brandenburg and Anna Pauline (Meyer) Brandenburg. He graduated from Armstrong Iowa High School and attended Estherville Iowa Junior College. He married the love of his life Jan Moore on July 30, 1960. They were married 60 happy years.
He had many occupations, but he is best known as manager of Colonial Manor Manufactured Home Community in Owatonna. He was a wonderful carpenter and the one friends and family called for advice and help with any problems. He was a real Jack of all Trades. He was a Cub Scout leader and Little League coach for his sons. He will be greatly missed by all.
There was a private gathering of his family and no service will be held. He donated his body to the University of Minnesota for research to help others. A huge thank you to all the many doctors, nurses and hospice caregivers.
