Jim Peterson, 80, formerly of B

After a long illness, Jim Peterson died peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022 in
Tucson, Arizona. Jim was 80 years old. He lived a very full and happy life in
Minneapolis, Boston, Wilton, Conn. and Tucson.
Jim served as director of Investment Management for the IBM Retirement Fund
where he managed the fund’s equity and fixed income investments. Before his
time at IBM, he was a senior investment officer at John Hancock Mutual Life.
Jim began his career as a Securities Analyst for Northwestern National Bank.
Jim grew up in Blooming Prairie and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts. He was also a proud member of the University’s Alpha Tao Omega fraternity.
In addition to his loving family, Jim’s many passions in life included collecting
contemporary art, antiques, fine dining, bird hunting, golf, travel, automobiles and novels. He held a special fondness for the city of Paris, the New York Times crossword puzzle, European mystery shows, duck confit, gin and tonics and, especially, the many feline friends who lived with him throughout his life.
He will long be remembered and missed by all who knew him. Jim leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Ellen; son Mike; sister Joan; daughter-in-law Lourdes;
granddaughters: Kristen and Carly; brother-in-law Michael; niece Devon and nephew Brendan.
