Owatonna attacker Wyatt Macy broke the Huskies’ boys lacrosse scoring record last week with his 110th career goal to surpass Jack Strom’s previous mark of 109.

The record-setting marker came in a four-goal performance against New Prague that helped the Huskies to win 12-11 over the Trojans.

“I knew that I was close, but in the moment, I didn’t really think of it because it was a close game,” said Macy. “When I got the goal, I didn’t realize it until they announced it in the stadium. It felt surreal.”

According to Macy, the shot to break the record was memorable in more ways than just one.

“It was actually an abnormal shot for me because it was on man-up, and I’m a crease guy, so it’s normally a lob shot in. This one was man-up though, so I was further out than normal, and I took a step-down shot top right corner,” said Macy.

The goal not only earned himself some Owatonna history, but it helped him join some elite company – and family.

“It’s pretty cool because my aunt is in the history books for hockey and now I’m in them for lacrosse. It’s a nice feeling,” he said.

With the career goals record ticked off on his list of 2026 goals, only two more remain.

“I want to help my team win as many games as possible and make a run in the playoffs. But now that I have the career mark, I’m also aiming for the season scoring mark. I’m at 35 and the mark is 52, so I’m hoping to pass that as well,” he said.

Macy’s scoring efforts have helped Owatonna to a 6-2 record to being the 2026 season and have the Huskies sitting tied for first place with Northfield and Mankato.

Owatonna’s next game will be at home against Mankato on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m.
