New York Sirens draft Wolfe in fifth round

It’s summertime in Minnesota, but Owatonna’s own Grace Wolfe will already be dreaming about the next time she sees the ice after being drafted by the New York Sirens in the 2026 PWHL Draft last week.
A record-setting 235 eligible athletes entered the draft, and the St. Cloud State University (SCSU) product was selected in the fifth round at 55th overall to continue her career at the professional level.
Wolfe was a standout during her time with the Huskies and was recruited to play for – ironically enough – the SCSU Huskies, where she went on to become the program’s all-time record holder for games played.
The Sirens drafted defenseman Emma Peschel (Ohio State University) with the seventh overall pick of the first round, but elected to draft forwards for the following three rounds before landing Wolfe in the fifth.
In a post from the New York Sirens’ Instagram page, the organization said, “This one feels lucky,” about taking Wolfe 55th overall.
SCSU’s 2025-26 captain was a main stay in the lineup during her five-year collegiate career and was known for her exceptional leadership and shot blocking abilities.
As a senior, Wolfe accounted for six goals and 15 assists for 21 points while notching 61 blocked shots.
As of the end of the 2025-26 PWHL season, the Sirens currently have 10 defensemen on the roster, meaning Wolfe will fight to crack the depth chart alongside Peschel to make an immediate impact on her new team.
