Panthers comeback falls short
Trailing by 12 points at halftime, the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (NRHEG) boys’ basketball team got within three points in the second half but couldn’t complete the comeback as they lost 74-79 to United South Central (USC) on Feb. 6.
NRHEG Head Coach Isaiah Lundberg said USC took control in the first half thanks to its strong shooting.
“Early in the game we went back-and-forth until USC got hot from three-point range. USC made seven three-pointers in the first half compared to our two,” he said.
In addition, he mentioned that the Rebels’ offense was boosted by AJ Kloos who scored 21 first-half points.
“We just didn’t do a good enough job containing him early,” he said.
Offensively, Lundberg said, “We got some really good looks, but couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities.”
NRHEG trailed 28-40 at halftime.
