Rita McGaheran, 84, Owatonna

Rita McGaheran, of Owatonna, passed away on Monday, April 25 at Traditions II in Owatonna. She was 84.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Owatonna. Friends may greet the family from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church.
Rita Marie Buskovick was born on Nov. 11, 1937, in Owatonna. She was the daughter of Raymond and Mary Ann (Wazlahowsky) Buskovick. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1956. After graduating from high school, she worked at Jostens.
On Sept. 5, 1959, she married John McGaheran at St. Joseph’s in Owatonna. Together they raised four children. While raising her own children, Rita had a daycare in her house and took care of other children for many years. Many of the children were her grandsons and nephews as well as the children of teachers who taught at St. Mary’s School.
Rita was an avid walker and liked to walk the path down by Lake Kohlmeier as well as just walking around the neighborhood. She also enjoyed baking, shopping, and talking on the phone with family and friends.
Rita McGaheran is survived by three sisters, Kathy Buskovick (and Roger Kline) of Rochester, Janet (and Jon) Johnson of Bozeman, Mont., and Cheryl (and John) Jandro of Owatonna, and one brother, Don (and Julie) Buskovick of Lutsen, Minn. She is also survived by her children: Mike (and Kayleen) McGaheran of Owatonna, Sheila Fraser of Owatonna, and Lisa Williams of Victorville, Calif.; seven grandchildren, and two great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McGaheran, her son, Mark McGaheran, her brother, Dan Buskovick, and her infant granddaughter, Ashlee Williams.
