Russell James, 82, Geneva

Russell “Russ” Allen James, 82, passed away peacefully on Sept.18, 2020 at the Homestead Hospice House, after a battle with cancer.
Russ was born to LeRoy and Henrietta James on Nov. 1, 1937. Growing up, Russ enjoyed his time hunting with his father in South Dakota. Russ joined the Navy in 1954 where he served on the USS Bennington. In his four years of service, he traveled around the world to Japan, Australia, Alaska, and Hawaii.
When returning from the Navy, he wed and had three children, Doug (Annette) James of Granville, Iowa, Greg (Vicki) James of Le Mars, Iowa, and Sharon (Jeff) Bailey of Cleveland, Minn.
Russ spent many years serving as a police officer in Merrill, Iowa. Later on he enjoyed working for Kmart in Sioux City and Dundas, Iowa and Faribault. Russ retired soon after his move to Faribault in 1989 and spent the rest of his years socializing with family and friends, collecting, and serving as the unofficial neighborhood watch -- always finding ways to continue helping others in his community. 
Russ is survived by sister Judy (DJ) Smutzer of Kingsley, Iowa, daughter Sharon (Jeff) Bailey, daughter in-law Vicki James. Grandchildren, Danny (Megan) James of Sioux Falls, Amanda (Andy) Rust of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Reese Hageman of Marcus, Iowa, Shelby (Ryan) Noble of Blooming Prairie, Cortney (Tyler) Bailey of Maple Grove, Jolene Aduddell of Le Mars, Iowa, Joelle Aduddell of Le Mars, Iowa, Justin Aduddell of Le Mars, Iowa, Jesse Aduddell of Le Mars, Iowa, Alisha James of Granville, Iowa, Adam James of Granville, Iowa. Great grandchildren, Willow and Trenton Hageman (Reese), Cael, Beckette, Luna Rust (Amanda), Declan James (Danny), Bailey Noble (Shelby).
Russ is preceded into death by parents, Leroy and Henrietta. Siblings Laura, Norma, Ruth, and Ernie. Sons, Doug, and Greg James. 
Military Service to be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at the Blooming Prairie Servicemen’s Club at 10 a.m.
